Fashion for Elephants

I was at Target the other day, saw this, and fell in love! I love elephants and candles so this was basically calling my name. I am obsessed with my new Elephant Tealight Holder! For $9.99 I don't know how you could say no. In-store, It was also available in a deep-teal color. I was torn between the two, but went with the gold because it matched my room more. The gold is available online as well! BUY HERE If you use your target card, shipping is free!

This item is part of Targets new "Cute Critters Collection."

DIY: Repurpose Your Candle Jars

While this post isn't necessarily about fashion, I had to share! And being that I used my repurposed jar to display my nail polish, it is kinda fashionable! Anyway, there are a few different ways to do this. I chose the freezer method, but you can also use heat for this project. When your candles are burned completely, there will always be a little left over wax. These are the steps I followed to get all the wax out of my candle!

1. Place candle in freezer and let sit for a couple of hours. The cold temperature will shrink and loosen wax from the sides of the jar.
2. Using a butter knife, carefully stab the wax to break it apart. This step took me the longest!

3. You can either throw away the leftover pieces of candle wax or save them to use for another project. I saved mine because I have another DIY in mind!
4. Peel off the labels. Mine came off easily but the bottom was a bit of a struggle. I ran it underwater and used the rough side of a sponge to scrub that one off!

5. After removing all of the wax, fill the jar with hot water adding a few drops of dish soap and let it sit.
6. Once water has cooled down enough, empty the jar. The hot water should loosen the glue that holds the metal parts that hold the wick to the jar. (Mine were easy to remove by hand but if not grab a pair of pliers!)
7. Next, wash and scrub the jar inside and out with a sponge to get rid of leftover wax and soot! As you can see from my first picture, mine was VERY dirty. But it was sparkling like new in the end!
8. Rinse out the soapy water and dry your jar using paper towels.

9. Once dried, I sprayed my jar and the top with a little bit of Windex to add the finishing touch.
10. And you're done!

I also read wax can easily be removed using baby oil or vinegar! Dish Soap and water worked fine for me, but definatley try those out if it doesn't work for you!

Cleaning out your candle jars is really easy and if you are always burning candles like me, its great to get some more use out of the jars! I used mine to display nail polishes, but there are a ton of things you can do with them! Some other ideas include storage for Qtips/cotton balls or displaying ornaments for Christmas. You could also pick up some small clear beads or marbles from Michaels to fill the jar and stick in your makeup brushes!

Style & Starbucks

This season, Im really loving Jcrew vests! This particular one I have been searching for a while so I was really happy when I found it at my nearest Jcrew Factory Outlet! While you may not be able to find it in stores or online, you might still be able to find the Jcrew Herringbone Vest at an outlet near you! Find your closest store: HERE. I also found that you can call different outlet locations and they can ship the item to you!

What's also great about finding it at the outlets, is obviously the price! While you could pay up to $200 for the item on eBay, at the outlet it retails for $108 (original store price  i believe was $138). Additionally, for this item discounts apply and you can use coupons!

Right now, they are having their BIGSALE (use code at checkout) in stores and online offering an extra 30% off of your purchase! My vest came to $75.60 before tax.

For students, Jcrew always allows an extra 15% off your entire purchase. So be sure to bring your student I.D! The student discount, however, cannot be combined with the big 30 sale.

I also picked up these from the Kate Spade Outlet. Both the earrings and the ring were $28 outlet price (48 original store price), but Kate Spade was also having their big sale. Everything in the store was 40% off PLUS an additional 20% that day only. So, the earrings and ring came to $13.44 each!

And of course my morning isn't complete without a quick stop at Starbucks. Even though it's been freezing in New York lately, I still order my coffees iced! My current favorite is the Iced Gingerbread Latte from Starbucks holiday beverages! This year the Gingerbread Latte at Starbucks is new and improved with molasses drizzle! It also can come topped with a spice-flavored whipped cream, but I always get mine without topping!

So if your looking for a new Starbucks drink, try out the Iced Gingerbread Latte!

Flannel Friday

It’s that time of the year! Time to break out those soft, warm, cotton Flannels! If you’ve been searching like me for oversized vintage-inspired Flannels, check out these online sites! This fall I’ve picked up two new Flannels from online shops on Etsy.com. Both Flannels were under $18 each with all taxes and shipping included!

The two shops on Etsy.com are GypsiiThrift and TheBeardedBee. Both offer a “Mystery Flannel” product where your vintage flannel is hand-picked for you based on your requests! In the comments section on the checkout page, you can request the colors you want your “Mystery Flannel” to be. You can also put in your height/measurements and request if you want yours fitted, or if you prefer a more oversized fit!
1. TheBeardedBee "Mystery Flannel" - $10

The first Flannel I ordered was from TheBeardedBee. Flannels cost $10 and shipping is $6. For this one I decided to request the colors Navy Blue or Green. The one I got was Blue with Navy stripes and tiny thin red stripes! I LOVED the fit of this flannel. I went by their size guide and ordered a MEDIUM for a baggy fit. shop here

2. GypsiiThrift "Mystery Flannel" - $10
The second Flannel I ordered was from GypsiiThrift. Flannels cost $10 plus $6.99 shipping. For this order I requested a flannel in navy/green or black/white checkered. I received the latter! For this order you just put your sizing info in the comments on the checkout page as well. There is no size choice options. This flannel came neatly wrapped in a piece of pink yarn with a coupon for 10% off your next order from GypsiiThrift! shop here
My Review: I absolutely love the whole concept of "Mystery Flannel." While I loved both shirts, I prefer the quality and baggy fit of the first flannel (blue) from "TheBeardedBee" more. This flannel was super soft and a thicker flannel material. The flannel from "GypsiiThrift" was thinner, more light-weight, and the material was more like that of a dress shirt rather then a flannel. The fit of this one was also more boxy which I wasn't crazy about. If I order again, I would order from "TheBeardedBee".
*For both shops, shipping was fast and I recieved my order within 5 business days
Sizing Help For Reference: my height is 5'7 and I usually wear size 0/2
